Use Brine, Produced Water, or Fresh Water with Aeternum
Aeternum can be mixed with brine, produced water from wells, sea water, or fresh water to form well cement. Using salt water is in fact preferable as it makes the mixture stronger.
Access to fresh water is often a logistical challenge and a large added expense at well sites, especially in shale plays or in offshore fields. And the ability to use brine or produced water from the wells reduces substantially the cost of disposing of these fluids, which is usually done by injecting them into deep disposal wells.
The ability to mix Aeternum with almost any available water – which might otherwise have to be discarded or treated at great cost – aligns with company goals and legal mandates to minimize fresh water use and to safeguard fresh water sources from contamination.
Moreover, Aeternum-based cement or concrete – like Ancient Roman concrete – will set properly underwater or in wet conditions.
